This year’s Day of the Seafarer theme, “Carrying global trade. Carrying the risks.”, gave us a clear way to recognise the people behind our work. We invited our seafarers to show what the profession means to them, in their own words and images.
We ran a poster competition for our onboard and onshore seafarers, along with trainees at the International Maritime Institute. The brief was simple. Show pride in being a seafarer and reflect the theme of the day. The response was strong. We received more than 100 entries from teams in India, the Philippines and China. Each poster told a different story, with a shared thread. Our seafarers take pride in their work and in the role they play in keeping global trade moving.
The five winning entries were selected by Capt. Somasundar Nair, Executive Director, Fleet Personnel Department.
