Fleet Management has been entrusted with the management of Gisigwilgwelk Aurora Borealis, further expanding its longstanding relationship with Kumiai Navigation (Pte) Ltd and reinforcing a partnership built on trust, performance and shared commitment to operational excellence.

The Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC), designed to transport both LPG and ammonia, joins a growing fleet managed on behalf of the Singapore-based shipowner. Earlier this year, Fleet Management assumed management of sister vessel Aurora Guardian. Today, the company manages two VLGCs and three bulk carriers on behalf of Kumiai Navigation.
Fleet Management CEO Capt. Rajalingam Subramaniam joined industry partners in Japan as Kumiai Navigation (Pte) Ltd celebrated the naming of Gisigwilgwelk Aurora Borealis at Kawasaki Heavy Industries' Sakaide Works ahead of delivery later this month.
The vessel is the second VLGC delivered for deployment under a long-term charter with AltaGas and will transport LPG from Canada's west coast to Japan and other Asian markets.
Built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, the vessel incorporates a range of energy-efficiency technologies, including energy-saving fins, a semi-duct system with contra fins, a rudder bulb with fins and an advanced ACE (Adaptive Control for Energy-Saving) autopilot system.
The vessel will be commanded by Capt. Rajas Hardas and Chief Engineer Renjith Kishore Kumar, supported by a crew of 22 seafarers.
Fleet extends its congratulations to Kumiai Navigation, AltaGas, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and all project partners on this important milestone and looks forward to supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Gisigwilgwelk Aurora Borealis in the years ahead.
